의심의 여지없이 당대를 대표하는 슈게이징 밴드로서 손꼽히는 마이블러디 발렌타인은, 1984년 아일랜드에서 결성되어 보컬의 비중보다는 '노이즈'라는 음악적 텍스쳐 요소에 중점을 두어 '기존의 관습적 음악에 대한 전복' 라는 이념아래 타 밴드들과 음악적 궤도를 달리했다. 실험적이고 혁신적인 사운드는 지금까지 전혀 들어 본적이 없는 사운드를 만들어내었고, 80년대 후반 90년대 초반을 MBV의 시대로 장악하게 하였다. 1991년 앨범 평론가들의 엄청난 환호 속에서 "LOVELESS"를 발표하였는데, 본 앨범은 숨이 멎을듯한 감동을 선보이며 90년대 최고의 앨범들 중 하나로 손꼽히는 명반이 되었다. 후대 Radiohead에서부터 The Horrors에게 까지 영향을 미쳤던 My Bloody Valentine은 멤버 케빈의 편집증인 성격으로 여러 문제들이 일어났고 급기야 1995년 리더 격인 데비 구지의 탈퇴이 후 뚜렷한 음악적 활동이 없는 상태이다.

슈게이징록의 창시자로 기록되고 있는 아일랜드 출신의 4인조 모던록 그룹 마이블러디 발렌타인의 2013년 발매 세 번째 앨범. 20년의 공백을 두고 다시 등장한 그들의 3집 앨범 "m b v"는 그들의 가장 실험적인 음반으로 그들이 끊임없는 재창조에 대한 열망을 보여주는 증거이다. UNCUT선정 2013년 올해의 명반 1위에 오르기도 하였다.
